NYC Pulse
Support Independent Journalism
Why reader support matters for local news
Local journalism is facing an existential crisis. Across New York City, the outlets that used to cover city council hearings, school board meetings, and precinct-level crime statistics have closed, downsized, or shifted to national stories. NYC Pulse was built to fill that gap — and to stay independent enough to do it properly.
“The business model of local news broke. Our job is to build a new one — one that doesn’t depend on advertisers who can pull the plug, or aggregators who capture the traffic without funding the reporting.”
How We’re Funded
NYC Pulse is funded through the NYC Digital Network — our parent company, which operates four editorial publications across New York City. The Network’s diverse revenue base across publications allows NYC Pulse to maintain full editorial independence from the subjects we cover.
We do not accept advertising on NYC Pulse. We do not take money from political organizations, government entities, or the corporations and institutions we cover. Our financial independence is not incidental — it’s the foundation of everything we do.
